Camp director, Mark Junkermann, has had a passion for running since 1980 when he joined the "jogging club" at his middle school. Upon graduation to high school, he made the varsity cross country team at Los Alamitos High School, located in Orange County, CA. In his 10th grade year the team went undefeated through the entire league competition. He went on to be the individual champion the following two year as well
as winning the 800-2mile in the championships. His school records in all 4 distance events still top the lists 25 years later.
He went on to UCLA where he became the team captain and All-American in cross country and track where UCLA won NCAA Div I Track and Field Championships. Post collegiately Junkermann qualified for the US Olympic Track Trials in the 1500, 3000m Steeple Chase as well as the 5000.
Over the years he has coached at the high school level to Olympic hopefuls. Junkermann has acted as a counselor, coach and guest speaker as a runner, coach and adidas representative at some of the top camps across the country.
